All of us know about it. But we also know outside of that bubble, there's billions of people who don't have a clue what Gullah Geechee is.

It took an act of Congress [to set up the commission] and then once we figured out what we were doing, it took off from a bicycle to a fast car to a plane. And we don't have the rocket plane yet, but we are on, I call it the sharecropper plane, which can still go pretty fast. Some of us think it's already a moon rocket, but I know it's not.

But it took off, and now it is known around the world, but not as much as it should. I credit the corridor.

Now, it is well known. Now, if anything happens, it's going to say Gullah Geechee.

And I don't feel bad. I smile because that was part of, not just my goal, but people like Emory Campbell, my mentor, that people can give the recognition.

Now everyday regular people, news media, everybody talks about Gullah Geechee down here. They don't even mention African American as much. And I'm like 15 years ago, it was still quiet.

We knew, but outside of that, nobody even knew much about it, and nobody wanted to be a part of it. 20 years ago, that's a short length of time. Now it is growing pretty fast.
