My name is John Wesley Carr Jr. I'm named after my father—He was my grandfather's youngest child.
My grandfather was Thomas Tobias Carr, the first. His oldest son was a junior, and his name came down the line on that side of the family.
I was born and raised there. My father was born and raised there. As the story is told, after the earthquake, I think it was in 1886, when they took some of the houses down from downtown and put two houses together, put them on a rice barge, and brought it up here and assembled it up on the hill.
