Located in MctIntosh County Georgia, Sapelo Island is only accessible by ferry. And accessing that ferry generally requires one to be part of a guided tour, a resident of the island, or the visitor of a resident.
Sapelo is home to one of the last remaining Gullah Geechee communities in the United States, and the last intact Gullah Geechee community in the Georgia Sea Islands.
